Local Church Flagship Projects

St Mary's Poor Fund
St Mary's is situated right in the heart of the City Centre in Swansea.  It is the Civic Church and hosts a number of Civic occasions through the year.  Importantly though, it is also open every day serving the needs of the community which includes many people who are struggling and some who are living on the streets immediately surrounding the church.  It is essential as a church that support is being provided to these people.  Each day food and drink is offered free of charge to people who are homeless in the coffee shop which is run inside the church.
The toilet facilities are used as washing facilities as there are sadly no public facilities in the City Centre and even toilets in the shopping centre are 'off limits' to people who are homeless.
Also, the church run a breakfast club each week where around 30 people are fed a good cooked breakfast.  There is no charge for any of the guests that we welcome for the breakfast.
During the winter months particularly there are also hats, gloves and scarves available for people who need them and through the year we are able to provide people with toiletries when needed.
The church is only able to keep open day by day through contributions given both in terms of time and money and we are grateful to the Austin Bailey Foundation for the support they give.
